Recently under new ownership, Choopan Grill offers authentic Afghan cuisine including a wide variety of delectable kebabs and other delicacies as well as a tremendous selection of vegetarian-friendly dishes. The new owners, Rona and Hashem are seasoned chefs who started their journey in the early 90’s. Hashem started as owner of Khorasan Restaurant in 1994 located on Woodside Avenue in Queens, N.Y. He then took on Choopan Kebab Restaurant on Main Street, Flushing. Rona began in 1989 at Ariana Afghan Kebab Restaurant located in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City alongside her husband, they were pioneers of rolling out one of the first Afghan restaurants and introducing the local patrons to the exotic flavors that our country has to offer. Branching off into its third location in Selden, N.Y. the brother and sister duo have come together under one roof in this collaboration of culinary arts, Hashem and Rona bring forth tastes and memories from old Afghanistan combining three generations of techniques and mastery.
